With the announcement that BBC2 is going to air all five seasons of The Wire, everyone is quick to jump on the bandwagon and tell their praise. The show is scheduled for 1120pm, and will be on every night for the next 12 weeks.

The Wire, The End, The City – Cheers!
Five season of the Wire is gone. It’s been one hell of a ride. Big ups and downs.
Have to say that I thought the ending was pretty damn perfect. A little bit sentimental, but not over the top. And even if the show came to and end, the city and streets continue to live its life…

The Wire Season 5 Episode 7 Review
Clay Davis is one slick smooth talker. Damn, he got ‘em all wrapped around his little finger. Sheeeeiiit. Don’t really like that man.
McNulty’s trying to do good with his new resources, but I’m still fairly confident that he will f*ck up soon. The writing’s on the wall unfortunately. With the homeless people getting faces and families, it’s all getting too personal.
Same thing with Omar. Good to see him giving Michael a bit of scare, but I’m still pretty sure he will make a misstake soon – it’s just too personal for him. And that limp leg doesn’t really help either…
Bunk seem to be about to crack soon, don’t think he’ll rat on McNulty or Freamon, but he’s pretty pissed off. Also liked the scene when he’s interrogating Michael. Hope he gets to Chris and Snoop soon.
btw, did you notice that Dominic West (playing McNulty) directed this episode? How cool is that!

The Wire Losing Viewers – Too Challenging for the mainstream
It’s pretty clear that not everyone has seen the light and understand the greatness of the Wire – by far the greatest show to grace my tv.
According to a recent article, the wire season 5 seem to have alienated viewers (the one’s who can’t follow anything more challenging than the O.C probably…) as it’s rating’s went down about 23 percent compared to the previous season.
Anyways – it’s their loss, not the show – it’ll go on ’till the end anyway, thankfully!

The Wire Season 5 Episode 6 Review
This is a late and quick post
McNulty seem to be digging himself further and further down the hole of lies he’s created. And poor bunk ain’t getting the resources he need to work real cases…
Omar is on the war-path, but I’m thinking he’s too keen and angry and might make a fatal misstake soon. Marlo on the other hand also seem to be getting to damn greedy and self-confident for his own good – maybe someone else from the cop-op will take him down (although i doubt it as he’s the connect with the good stuff…).

The Wire Season 5 Episode 5 Review
Yepp, a little bit late I know. But I’ve finally got the time to type up my impressions of episode 5 (just in time for tonights episode 6, can’t wait!).
For the first time during the course of this show, I’m starting to doubt McNulty. I admin I thought him and Freamon were doing the right thing, but with the twist and turns of this episode their means doesn’t seem to justify their motives. Is it all starting spiralling out of control? It was however pure joy to watch the confusion in the room when mcnulty and the young journo (never remember his name…) where lying their asses off about the phone calls.
And even with the success of a wire tap, it seem that the Greeks are a lot more sofisticated than the average dealers using secure channels on their phones and such.
And Omar, what a mess he got himself in. Hope I gets out on top, but from the looks of it that won’t happen.

The Wire Season 5 Episode 4 Review
Damn, Marlo is one cold gangster. Looking at his face, not even a raised eye brow, when Prop Joe gets the bullet. I really hope Omar will get back hard on Marlo, he’s just getting to damn cocky for my taste. I’m sure he will… And while he’s at it, please do the Greeks also, some creepy people.
McNulty and Freamon are really working the case, it’s kind of creepy seeing them messing around at the crime scene. Well, it’s for the greater good at least. I wonder if Bunk will ever come around.
Also in the news room (haven’t really gotten into this so much yet), things are at the boiling point. Dreams of the Washingon Post got squashed and some of the senior staff appeared as even bigger asses as before (if even possible!)
And on the note on McNulty, man he’s one screwed up anti-hero. Looks like his family life is about to go down the drain, but who’s surprised? Not me… Let McNulty be McNulty 
In city hall things are also about to reach boiling point, Carcetti struggling with the numbers and Rhonda making (not so anymore) mighty men sweat. Sheeeeeit! And oh, Burrell made a decision…
Think this was one of the strongest episodes of the Season so far. What do you think?

Things are truly starting to heat up on the wire season 5.

McNulty trying to get an agents attention talking about ‘the red ribbon’ – great because it was so over the top comedial, but still works for the Wire as we all know that there really are people that thick

Prop Joe commenting how hard it is going to be to civilize Marlo (who doesn’t really grasp the concept of having money on the bank, where you can’t see or touch it).

’Omar is coming” I’m pretty sure he will make quite an impression in Baltimore soon. RIP Butchie.

The Wire Season 5 Episode 2 Review
Whereas episode 1 set the scene for the final season, episode 2 really kicked things off.
The common theme seem to be to ‘stretch things’. The up and coming journo who’s trying to hard, stretching the truth for a good story. The unlikely joint venture between westside gangsters Marlo and Avon. And what about the ending – McNulty really stretching the limits. How is Bunk gonna handle this? Will McNulty himself be able to cope with it?
I can’t wait for episode 3. What’s your verdict?

The Wire – World Changing Television?
Latest in the UK media to jump on the Wire bandwagon of praise is blogger James Doaghy of British newspaper The Guardian, who writes:
“Shows like The Wire and Bodies are both entertaining and politically challenging. But if we want more like them, we have to seek them out….Watching it, it struck me what a passionate, angry, politically acute show it still is….the writers, producers and actors all believe that the show is not just worthy but necessary. How often do you get that these days?”
I couldn’t agree more. I actually don’t watch a lot of television, but once in a while there is thankfully some well-produced and thoughtful shows, such as the wire, which makes it worth wile sticking around. Also some interesting comments accompany the blog post, such as the idea that one of the big strenghts is that the Wire managed to reinvent itself with each season – from the streets, to the docks, the schools, the town hall and now the news room. Yepp, more praise to the wire

The Wire Season 5 Episode 1 in Review
I bet you did the same thing as me this weekend – watching the first episode of the wire season 5.I loved the opening scene, bunk in fine form interrogating a seemingly clueless small time gangster, and later using a copying machine as a lie detector – instant classic. It was also great to see McNulty early on in the episode, I missed him in the later seasons but now he seem to be back where he belongs, in the spotlight and late night binge drinking sessions.
Another bright point was the journo crew at the Baltimore Sun which seem to be just as much of a motley crew as the gangsters and police.
It was great to see so many familiar faces in one single episode – McNulty, Bunk, Kima, Herc, Marlo, Prop Joe, Bubs, Carter, Carcetti, Chris, Snoop, Michael, Dukie (boy, he’s grown) and lots more.
I just realized how much I missed these characters, and how happy I am that they are back J
